TYRE PRESSURES
There is always much debate about tyre pressures. The Register cannot make a firm recommendation, but the following guidelines may be helpful:
Beaded edge eg 820 & 880x120: 65-70psi
Well based eg 5.00/5.25 x 20/21: 35-40psi
Straight sided eg 5 x 23/24": 40-45psi

D TYPE TECHNICAL INFORMATION
The above photo shows a late (1922) D type engine in the Luton works. The Lanchester harmonic balancer can be clearly seen, indicating that Vauxhall commenced fitting them to the late D Type engines before the OD engine. It also shows the two bladed aluminium fan rather than the pressed steel type used on the earlier engines. This engine appears to be fitted with a Bosch magneto.

Front Wheel Brakes - A brief history
The engineering drawings for the FWB components are dated early 1923, and the assembly drawings for the 30-98 are dated May 1923.
Vauxhall's FWB demonstration car was OE7 (according to Portway), and has an erecting shop date of 29-03-23. After testing, presumably the next step was to source and manufacture a batch of components. The relevant Works Order Number was 2507, and the first 30-98s with FWB were passed out in November 1923.
Subsequently, the drawing office would have focussed on the 23-60. The components were largely interchangeable, and the assembly drawings are dated November 1923, Works Order Number 1891 (probably, no records). The 23-60 erecting shop records do not survive, but the first 23-60's with FWB were advertised from January 1924.
Initially, they were a £55 extra option. Subsequently, by July 1924, the advertising showed that FWB were a standard fitment.
OD854, has front axle number stamped OD.33, so was likely produced in the first batch. OD844 and OD853 also survive from this batch, but we don't know the axle numbers. Looking at the survivors, there are earlier chassis numbers with the kidney box FWB set up, but most likely these were added later. The factory offered to retrofit FWB to customers' cars, for example.
Cars which have FWB added after production will have the earlier type of front spring rear hanger, mounted through the chassis sidemember rather than under the flange.
