Y TYPE
From Leith Newell, via John, May 2025. This is Y1 rebodied. Yes, the 1908 2000 miles RAC Trials winner! Image probably taken in 09, or 10. I can tell this because it has the same wire wheels with central hex nut as the Y1 shot at Brooklands. They are not Riley wheels. Old Blue
(Y2) has those. They use a 6 peg drive, which you can see poking through the hubs.
This car also has the slender 3 & 1/2" deep chassis rails. The biggest clue are the shallow tapered front dumb irons of the X type chassis.
Yes, both Y1 & Y2 used X type chassis, gearboxes (but factory converted to 4 speeds) and modified back axles.
