OD301 (OZ)
Chassis OD 301 Engine OD 710
OD 301 is close to having her restoration completed to the stage of being able to register and once again drive under her own power. She is now in the ownership of Greg and Julie Morris in Kallangur, Brisbane, Queensland and has travelled through a few hands from her original strip down and restoration.
Her known History is she was in the possession of Brian and Lyn Jackson on the Queensland Sunshine Coast and is featured in the (Vintage Car Club of QLD) VCCQ 50 year book on page 178 in an unrestored but well used condition in white.
During this time she was used by the Surfair Beach Hotel to give guests a thrill running up and down the beach.
From there now painted in a deep green she was acquired by Doug and Margaret Bettens in the 1970's who drove her on some rallies before stripping her down to commence a full restoration, she is again featured in the VCCQ 25 year book on page 178 being driven by Doug though a back road stream.
The restoration stalled due to a dispute over work completed on the engine, and due to their friendship Doug gave OD301 in a 'restored to rolling chassis form' to Evan Morris, Evan was able to negotiate the return of the engine and the long restoration began once again.
After the timber sills were replaced, 90% of the remaining timber frame was able to be reused as with the original skin with hundreds of hours sanding by Evan and son Barry Morris.
After Evan's passing, Greg and Julie acquired the car from the estate and Greg has been busy finishing off details such as the upholstery, lights and wiring after having to strip the engine down when the center cam shaft journal jammed and then reassemble to a running order.
At the time of these pictures OD301 is only in need of the rear brake drums being changed to cast iron and lights to be fitted for a roadworthy and club registration and as with all she remains a works in progress to continually improve and enjoy.
